Garden Work Plans
Thursday, July 17
Today volunteers deadheaded daylilies near Pergola. Gravel mulch was added to Mediterranean Garden to aid water retention around trees. Found spider mites on spruce and Austrian pines in Rock & Tree Garden I ~ sprayed with water. Back area of garden cleaned up by Pussy Willow ~ weeds cleaned out of Bear Grass and flower stalks cut out of bear grasses. Hand watered south side of Veteran's Memorial Walkup as we have a water flow problem in this area.
Paths and walks were raked and swept. Otto donated Marigold and Bachelor button seeds and Anne and Ray donated a sack full of Holly Hock seeds ~ all were planted!
Dead and sagging areas of a huge old rosemary plant was pruned out in the Buffalo II area! Looks great now.
Grape Pie was the snack at break ~ Prepared with our own garden grapes!

Volunteers moved rock bench in Mediterranean Garden closer to walk for easier access. Deadheaded salvia in Vet Memorial. Moved gravel in Med Garden and will continue process next week. Seeded marigolds in Rock & Tree I and adjusted irrigation in that area. Desert Willow pulled down by kids so we uprighted and stablized; looked good 5 days later! Discussed plant list and set date to edit. Raked and Swept paths and walks and picked up trash. Worked on grapes securing to Pergola
