Water-Wise Garden

The Rio Rancho Water-Wise Demonstration Garden (WWG) in Rio Rancho, New Mexico is a cooperative effort with several Departments in the City of Rio Rancho, the Sandoval County Master Gardeners, partnering with the Rio Grande Basin Initiative, Local businesses and Community Volunteers. All the cooperation and partnering has manifested a landscape template visually appealing, easy to duplicate or model in the homeowner's garden. Practical gardening methods are taught in the garden by and for the Master Gardeners and volunteers, new SCMG trainees and to everyone in the community.
The garden design demonstrates:
- Drip, sprinkle, spray and bubble irrigation systems
- Bark, pecan, wood chip, crusher fine and gravel mulches
- Plus water harvesting techniques: dry creek beds, swales, berms and drain ways to catchment areas
HGTV ~ Gardening by the Yard hosted by Paul James filmed WWG for future xeriscape program.
The Water-Wise Demonstration Garden is located at 950 Pinetree Rd Se in Rio Rancho, New Mexico between the Post Office and the Esther Bone Library. See Map.
