The Department of Agricultural and Extension Education (AXED) strives to provide students with a broad base of essential knowledges, skills, and attitudes for functioning effectively in domestic and international, formal and non-formal agricultural and technology education roles that serve its many stakeholders. The Mission, Vision, and Valued Principles of the department are:

Preparing and supporting educators and leaders in agriculture to improve the economic well-being and quality of life of all stakeholders.

Striving to become a premier department at New Mexico State University in delivering and providing instruction in the components of the mission (education, research, Extension education, and public service).
