Job Opening for Assistant Professor of Food and Agribusiness
Tenure-Track Position
Department of Agricultural Economics and Agricultural Business (AEAB) New Mexico State University (NMSU)
The Department: The AEAB is home to 16 tenure-track faculty positions and approximately 225 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. For more information about the Department please visit www.aeab.nmsu.edu. Appointment: 30% teaching and 70 % research. Required Qualifications: PhD in Agricultural Economics/Business, Business Administration or a closely related area with strong emphasis on Food and Agribusiness Marketing and/or Management; capacity to apply economic and business analysis tools, such as econometrics, simulation modeling, or math programming; demonstrated excellence in professional communications; and ability and desire to work as part of a team in a diverse multicultural environment.
Basic Position Expectations: To teach up to two undergraduate level courses and at least one graduate level course for a total teaching load of three courses per year; to participate in student recruitment and mentoring and in other departmental teaching, research and service program development efforts; to obtain external grant funding and conduct research on issues that are critical to the New Mexico food and agribusinesses sector; and to disseminate research results through refereed journal article publications and other suitable venues.

Job Opening for Assistant/Associate Professor of Economic Development
One Tenure Track Position

The Department: The AEAB is home to 16 tenure-track faculty positions and approximately 225 undergraduate and 40 graduate students. For more information about the Department please visit www.aeab.nmsu.edu.
Appointment: 60% teaching and 40% research. Required Qualifications: PhD (in hand by hire date) in Agricultural, Resource, Applied, or General Economics or a closely related discipline with a well-defined field specialization in economic development, and knowledge and expertise on both rural and urban issues. Capacity to apply economic and business analysis tools, such as econometrics, simulation modeling, or math programming to the evaluation of economic development problems and issues. Ability to communicate research findings to all appropriate audiences. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Strong leadership and organizational development skills as well as the ability and desire to work as part of a team in a diverse multicultural environment. Familiarity with the economic development issues facing the Southwestern U.S. and the State of New Mexico. Outstanding graduate teaching and student mentoring record in the field of economic development preferred.
Examples of Duties: The successful candidate will be expected to teach at least three courses each year, mostly related to the DED program, and to be the major advisor of several doctoral students on a continuous basis. Teaching will include distance education and travel to deliver lectures in various locations. The successful candaidate will also be expected to intensively particpate in the administrative and management aspects and in the recruitment of students for the DED program. He/she will be expected to obtain external grant funding to support assistantships for DED students and to conduct cutting-edge research addressing local, regional, and national economic development issues. Aggressive dissemination of research results through refereed journal article publications, presentations at professional, industry, and public official meetings, and other suitable venues is expected as well.
